Open Chemistry Olympiad. Support for gifted children

The Moscow Chemistry Olympiad for schoolchildren is one of the oldest in Russia. Held since 1938...

Students in grades 8-11 can take part in it, regardless of where they live. The first (qualifying) stage takes place remotely. The second - internally in Moscow, Krasnoyarsk and Voronezh.

The internal stage includes two rounds: theoretical and practical. To be successful, you must participate in both. At the same time, not everyone participates in the practical, but only those who are invited at the end of the theoretical tour. A month before the second round, each participant is offered a topic for an abstract. The practical tour involves the defense of the abstract and the solution of experimental problems.

One of the most important questions that arises among schoolchildren and their mentors when preparing for olympiads, including such interdisciplinary and complex ones as, is what tasks exist and how to solve them. You can try to solve all kinds and types of problems that exist, but this is a rather long and inefficient way. Olympiads are creative tests, not an exam - a mandatory task, therefore tasks can only combine well-known techniques and approaches to solving, but, in general, Olympiad tasks are always a subject for reflection and non-standard thinking that needs to be developed in oneself. The main thing - to think, then - to do.

The following collection for preparation and self-preparation for the Olympiads was compiled by leading experts in the issues of the Olympiad movement and includes the following materials:

The secondary school chemistry curriculum (grades 10-11) differs from the primary school curriculum (grades 8-9), primarily in the study of organic chemistry and physical chemistry (mainly chemical equilibrium and chemical kinetics), which are not in the new primary school standard . In addition, inorganic chemistry is given at a more advanced level than in the basic school. Stoichiometric calculations are no longer the main element of the content of tasks, as in grades 8-9, but serve only as an auxiliary tool for solving.
